Animal Assisted TherapyResearch has demonstrated that using animals as "co-therapists" may be of assistance to counselors in working with withdrawn or non-communicative clients. Animals have been found to lower anxiety and motivate participation in therapy with individuals or groups af any age. Animals can help facilitate a trusting bond between the therapist and client. For some clients, talking to the animal is easier than talking to the therapist about difficult issues.
